Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency Program
In association with Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, the University of Cincinnati offers one of the most well-established Child and Adolescent Psychiatry training programs in the country.
Founded in 1948, the program has a strong tradition of continuously improving resident education in this rapidly changing and growing field.
Upon completion of the two-year training program, graduates will be expert in delivering medical care to children and adolescents with psychiatric disorders.
Residency Program Goals
Specific goals of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency program include:
- The ability of graduates to fully evaluate children and adolescents for psychiatric disorders and to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
- The ability of graduates to provide appropriate therapies for children and adolescents with psychiatric disorders, including a complete variety of brief and long-term psychotherapies, family therapy, and psychopharmacology.
- The ability of graduates to provide consultation and liaison services to other professionals, such as pediatricians, other physicians, psychologists, social workers, school personnel, and officers of the court.
- The ability of graduates to critically assess medical literature and develop practices for continually providing state-of-the-art psychiatric care.
These goals are met through a comprehensive, integrated training program fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
