Courses in the Immunobiology Graduate Training Program

Within the Graduate Program students will be required to take four main courses in Immunology. These courses, both basic and advanced, will cover the most essential aspects of immunology.  In addition, students will be required to take courses in Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics and elective courses offered at the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine that would apply to their research area of interest.  Throughout the program students will have opportunities to present their research progress at weekly seminars and research articles at weekly journal club sessions.

Foundations in Immunology I

This is a comprehensive graduate level course in immunology. This lecture-based course will meet 4 times a week and is team-taught by Immunobiology Faculty members.

Foundations in Immunology II

This course is designed to apply the concepts learned in Foundations in Immunology I, and to study more in depth the regulation and dysregulation of immune responses. This lecture-based course will meet 4 times a week and is team-taught by Immunobiology Faculty members.

Immunological Mechanisms of Disease

This course will cover basic cellular and molecular mechanisms of immunity as they relate to the pathogenesis of disease. This lecture-based course will meet 3 times a week.

Advanced Topics in Immunology

This course will cover the most significant advances in immunological research by using material derived from the current literature. Students will be expected to read and discuss research articles moderated by a member of the Immunobiology Faculty.
