Research: I am studying "EVC and LBN in heart development and disease" in Woody Benson's lab. These two head-to-head genes are mutated in Ellis van Creveld, a heart-hand syndrome that results in limb dwarfism and polydactyly and cardiac AV septal defects.
Why did you decide to come to Cincinnati?
The program allowed me to pursue dual degrees in Molecular & Developmental Biology and Genetic Counseling.
Why would you recommend this program to others?
There are very diverse interests in research, you can find just about anything you want. The faculty are extremely collaborative and always willing to lend a hand to the students.
What have you enjoyed most about the program?
The faculty are engaging, and seem to enjoy student presence in their labs. There are many labs to choose from, and they are almost all looking for graduate students. Collaboration was very important to me, and I love that I can get feedback from many of the faculty, along with my mentor.
