Stimulating Teaching
MD / PhD trainees at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center learn and share with colleagues, attendings and others in daily formal and informal teaching sessions. In addition, the Research Foundation and many of its divisions sponsor regular research seminars.
Morning Report
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 8:00 - 8:30 am
Residents, chief residents and faculty meet to review new hospital admissions.
Didactic Core Curriculum
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: Noon - 1 pm
Faculty members cover a variety of basic topics in clinical medicine.
Grand Rounds
Tuesday: 8 - 9 am
Frequently based on patient presentations by faculty, this features discussions on basic science and clinical topics. Distinguished visiting professors present Grand Rounds several times a year.
Chairman Rounds
Friday: Noon - 1 pm
Resident-run case conferences with an interesting case presented as unknowns, and brief formal presentation on the diagnoses.
Mortality / Morbidity Rounds
Quarterly, Thursday: Noon - 1 pm
Faculty and house staff from a variety of services discuss a specific patient.
CORE Competency Conference
Weekly, Thursday: 8 - 8:30 am
Faculty members lead case-based discussions on topics including pursuing perfection, behavior / development, ethics, professionalism and communication.
FIRM Rounds
Twice a month, Friday: 8 - 8:45 am
Faculty from multiple subspecialties, community pediatricians and house staff meet to discuss interesting cases with diagnostic or therapeutic dilemmas.
Senior Rounds
Tuesday, Thursday: 1:15 - 2 pm
Inpatient senior residents discuss cases with chief residents and faculty mentors.
Intern Rounds
Monthly, Thursday: Noon – 1 pm
Case presentations to chief residents and residents.
Journal Club
Monthly, Thursday: Noon – 1 pm
Discussion of current pediatric journal articles led by house staff with guidance by senior faculty members.
Radiology Rounds
Weekly, 10:45 – 11:30 am
Radiologists meet with ward teams to discuss patients' radiographs and present teaching cases.
Research Seminar Series
Weekly, Wednesday: 12 noon - 1 pm
Noted researchers from across the country come to Cincinnati Children's to talk about a variety of topics within molecular and developmental biology.
Hematology / Oncology Seminar Series
Approximately Monthly: 1 - 2 pm
Explores topics of interest in Hematology / Oncology and Experimental Hematology.
