The Pediatric Endocrinology Division Fellowship Training Program at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is directed by Philippe Backeljauw, MD. This fellowship training program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and strives to train pediatricians to become part of the next generation of pediatric endocrinology healthcare providers. The program has an interest to train individuals for careers in academic medicine.
The Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Training Program is a full-time, three-year program entirely sponsored by the Endocrinology Division at Cincinnati Children’s. The first goal is to provide expert training in clinical pediatric endocrinology and diabetes and to prepare pediatric endocrine fellows for specialty board eligibility. All fellows receive a broad-based experience in clinical pediatric endocrinology supervised by a large group of clinical / research faculty.
In addition, for those physicians who are inclined toward an academically based career, the division encourages, supports and provides additional training in clinical and basic science research. This is done throughout all three years of fellowship training and may lead to a fourth year of endocrine research training at Cincinnati Children’s.
The division accepts three fellows per training year. A combined pediatric and adult endocrinology fellowship program (four years) is also available.
