• Chicago Area Faculty Development Network -- a consortium of colleges and universities that provide workshops. Also has a good "links" page to many good general resources.
• University of Hawaii-Honolulu
• Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis Office for Professional Development -- provides consultation to improve teaching strategies.

• Academic Pediatric Association -- Faculty Development Special Interest Group is involved in the development of a web-based clearing house for curriculum, power-point presentations, a directory and calendar of programs available nationally and regionally.
• American College of Physicians - American Society for Internal Medicine -- This organization, which represents the community-based and full-time Internal Medicine specialists, has developed a very mature program over the past 10-12 years including a newsletter, awards of excellence, faculty development programs on a national and regional basis under the leadership of Dr. Patrick Alguire, Director, Education and Career Development.
• Society of Teachers of Family Medicine -- This organization has been a leader for many decades in the education of community-based physicians involved in teaching medical students and residents. Office-based Teacher is a web-based compilation of articles pertaining to the "how-to" component of office-based teaching.
• American College of Emergency Physicians -- references and list of teaching resources and materials for improving teaching skills.
  

University of California at Irvine -- Addresses residents as teachers with two videos and links to other medical student sites.

Canada

• University of British Columbia -- teaching skills resources and list of workshops and services

Midwest

• University of Cincinnati / Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center -- includes a menu of programs and resources from the basic level to a master's program in medical education.
• University of Kansas-Wichita -- includes a Preceptor Handbook with curricular materials, teacher and preceptor skills / development modules and links to clinical resources.
• Michigan State University / OMERAD (Office of Medical Education Research and Development, College of Human Medicine) provides:
• An introduction to the many uses of the internet in a module format
• Medical Education Online -- an electronic journal of medical education materials including curricula, book reviews, syllabi, software, etc., in a peer-reviewed manner
• Medical College of Wisconsin -- an integrated Family Medicine / Internal Medicine / Pediatric program that includes training workshops, online clinical modules and a newsletter.
• Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine -- educational resources and services
• University of Pittsburg School of Medicine -- workshops, Residents as Teachers curriculum
• Rush University Medical College -- teaching and educational skills links and references

South

• Duke University -- includes online courses in both teaching and leadership skills but requires Duke intranet access.
• East Texas Area Health Education Center -- includes web-based cases, preceptor pages, useful links for students and preceptors; requires password for most of the material
• University of Kentucky, Department of Family Practice -- includes instructional modules with CME credit (e.g., time management, feedback, effective precepting, etc.), plus "Preceptor Oriented Links."
• Mountain Area Health Education Center -- located in Asheville, NC, and includes a preceptor development program with links to resources
• University of Alabama-Birmingham -- teaching support resources including instructional videos
• University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill -- The Expert Preceptor Interactive Curriculum: a faculty development curriculum in clinical teaching for community practitioners -- a module format with CME credit.

East

• Boston University Medical Campus -- includes tutorials and list of workshops.
• Dartmouth Medical School – OCER (Office for Community-Based Education and Research) -- includes teaching tools and resources plus schedules for faculty development workshops locally and regionally; some modules and articles are available. Also a very extensive list of resources through the Dartmouth Biomedical Libraries including teaching methods, problem based learning, faculty development for preceptors, junior faculty and resident development, etc.
• Harvard Medical School -- medical educational resources
• University of Massachusetts – Community Faculty Development Program -- a national training program including workshops, fellowships and publications.
• University of Rochester -- workshops, MS in Teaching and Curriculum, teaching materials (need UR account)
• Southern New Hampshire Area Health Education Center -- contains modules in their "Preceptor Development Program" including Feedback, Evaluation, Teaching and Learning Styles, etc., with CME credit.

West / Southwest

• UCSF -- Includes workshops and online resources.
• University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Center for Instructional Support -- This site provides resources for educators in the health professions including a/v modules on faculty development skills, educational skills and links to a conference schedule, journals, workshops etc.
• Montana State University-Bozeman - Mountain Area Health Education Center -- Includes guides for students and preceptors and useful links.
• Stanford University -- Conducts workshops in Southern California for community-based teachers. Also has a Teaching and Learning Center that provides workshops and a list of resources.
• University of Washington -- Contains information about their own Peer Faculty Training materials; outlines the WWAMI program which is probably the most far-reaching community-based clerkship program in the country

Madigan Army Medical Center, Department of Family Medicine -- The Faculty Development Resource Center provides modules in Teaching Skills, Leadership and Management, Research, Clinical Topics and Original Papers.
