The Genetics Education Program for Nurses (GEPN) independent self-paced modules are designed to promote just-in-time learning. The learner does not need to use the modules in any particular sequence; rather, the learner is encouraged to use any number of modules in the sequence that best meets his or her continuing education needs.
Each module is consistent with the following:
Interpreting Family History Self-Paced Module (login link for PC & Mac users) This module requires Flash player. This module is designed to enable the learner interpret family history information to identify and refer clients who can benefit from genetic services. Nurses who complete the entire module and related evaluation will be awarded 5.8 nursing contact hours.
Ethical and Social Issues Related to Genetic Testing Self-Paced Module (login link for PC & Mac users) This module is designed to help the learner identify ethical and social issues related to genetic testing and recording of genetic information. Nurses who complete the entire module and related evaluation will be awarded 4.7 nursing contact hours.
The GEPN independent self-paced modules were designed for nurses with limited knowledge in genetics. Our database reflects that the most common users of the module are:
Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (OH-046, 9/1/2018) is an approved provider of continuing education by the Ohio Nurses Association (OBN-001-91), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
