    Throughout the year, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center sponsors various educational services around the Greater Cincinnati area.  

  • During the year, the Trauma Services Department staff at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center offers free car seat safety inspections throughout the community. During these inspections, staff members offer guidance on topics, including:

    • Child safety seats and the law
    • Choosing the right safety seat
    • Correct safety seat installation
    • Restraining your child in a safety seat

    Safe Sitter Program -- a medically oriented instructional series that teaches youngsters how to handle emergencies when caring for younger children. The goal of Safe Sitter is to prepare adolescents for babysitting and to reduce the number of accidental and preventable deaths among children being care for by babysitters. The child must be 11 to 13 years of age to take the course. Safe Sitter classes are generally offered Summer through early Fall. It costs $40 to enroll in the class.

    The Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center Safety Fair is a free program provided to elementary schools within the Greater Cincinnati area. The Safety Fair is designed to educate young children, kindergarten through third grade, in a fun, yet effective atmosphere.

    The Safety Fair consists of five interactive stations which include:

    • Burn prevention
    • Pedestrian safety
    • Seat belt safety
    • Home safety
    • Bicycle / helmet safety

    The Safety Fair can be presented during the school day, for classroom participation, or during the evening for school children and their families. Cincinnati Children's provides the equipment and training, while each school provides volunteers to coordinate the fair.
