Overview
Special events play an important role in philanthropy at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. They raise valuable resources that benefit our young patients while building awareness of the medical center and children's health issues. Special events are also an excellent way to gain new supporters for the important work we do here at Cincinnati Children's.
Cincinnati Children's hosts three signature events each year. We start the year with the Cincinnati Cares for Kids Radiothon, a three-day event in February during which our patients and families tell their stories on-air. In May we host The Celestial Ball, a dinner and gala, and in October we have Cincinnati Walks for Kids, a 5K walk that celebrates the children and families cared for at the medical center. Together, these events raise over a million dollars each year, which help us provide care for children and families who need us, conduct research to find better treatments and cures, and train the caregivers of the future.
Additionally, Cincinnati Children's has a variety of events throughout the year that raise funds for specific divisions and programs. These events include golf outings and dinner events, as well as a wine tasting and a motorcycle ride. Supporters of Cincinnati Children's serve on the committees that plan these events each year.
Volunteering for Special Events
We are always in need of volunteers to help plan and prepare for special events. There is no specific time commitment for special events volunteers – help as often as you like, at a time that works for you.
Here are just a few of the special events volunteer opportunities:
- Serve on a planning committee for an event
- Work at events
- Assist with mailings
- Make phone calls
- Help with other office-related activities
