Kicks for Kids Raises Money for Cincinnati Childrens
A record 1,330 runners and walkers crossed the finish line at the annual RGI River Run. Runners, families and athletes came out to Newport on the Levee to particpate in the 5K run/walk and raised $9,000 for the medical center. The event also included a Special K for children with physical and/or mental disabilities and a Children's Fun Run. The Purple People Bridge provided the perfect setting, especially for all of the post-race events. Participants enjoyed live music by the RumRunners, a post-race party, as well as a chance to win a door prize. Thanks to the walkers and participants who made this fundraiser a huge success!
Musicians Rock the House for Cystic Fibrosis
More than 18 bands joined together for an evening to perform their own renditions of the Afghan Whigs, a soul-influenced American rock band from Cincinnati. The tribute was held at the historic Southgate House which included a raffle with collectible items from the bands. The event raised $761 to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Center at Cincinnati Children's. Thanks to everyone who organized and participated in the event!
Swimmers Make a Splash for Research
Anna was diagnosed with biliary atresia, a rare liver disease, when she was 5 weeks old and is awaiting a liver transplant. Anna is a member of the Louisville Country Club Cruisers swim team. Recently, about 50 swimmers from the country club held a Swim for Hope fundraiser. The participants collected pledges based on the number of laps they swam. The event raised more than $6,500 to help research at Cincinnati Children's to find a cure for biliary atresia. Thanks to everyone involved in this event that made this gift possible!
Gifts Given to Hospitalized Children
Kettering Church held their summer vacation bible school. For their bible school project, the children donated "comfort critters" in the shape of turtles to help the patients treated at Cincinnati Children's feel better and ease their fears. Along with the donation of "comfort critters" a donation was also made to purchase toys for the children to make them happy. Thanks for all your support! Walkers Raise Money for Cancer Care
Kathy Schmidt's family is keeping her memory alive through the Kathy Schmidt Memorial Fund; "Always our Sunshine" Walk-a-Thon. Kathy, who lost her life to cancer, loved working with children and walking, so her family felt that the fundraiser would be a wonderful way to honor her memory. The 5K walk-a-thon was held at Harvest Home Park in Cheviot. The $6,000 proceeds from the walk will be donated to the Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute at Cincinnati Children's. Golfers Tee Off for Cancer Patients
The annual John Estep Kids Fighting Cancer charity golf outing was held at Avon Fields. It was a four-person scramble with dinner, prizes and refreshments. The event continues to grow and it gives John a good feeling to help out at Cincinnati Children's. The golfers raised $3,500 for cancer research. Thanks to all the golfers who made this fundraiser a huge success!
Children's Garage Sale Benefits Child Life and StarShine Hospice
The second annual "Red Wing" fundraising garage sale held by Cara, Ethan, Jenna and Brittney benifited Cincinnati Children's. Child Life received 75 percent of the fundraising donations for the purchase of toys and the other 25 percent benefited SharShine Hospice. Thanks! (l-r): Cara, Ethan, Jenna and Brittney.
A Special Toy Donation

Girl Scouts Support Cincinnati Children's
Michelle Lane, troop leader, wanted to teach her scouts kindness and help them understand the value of giving and helping make the world a better place. Kaitlin, Jennifer and Allie of Girl Scout Troop 31673 completed their Silver Award by working on a project to benefit children at Cincinnati Children's. Memorial Concert Benefits the Medical Center
Paul Green, Linda Dyer and Pam Green organized a memorial gospel concert in memory of Paul's grandfather, Basil Green. Basil promotoed gospel music and it is part of the legacy he left behind to his children and grandchildren. The concert raised $1,562 for the medical center.
