Volunteering

High School Student Volunteers

Volunteering as a high school student at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center not only supports the hospital but also gives students a chance to learn about health-related careers. The "School's Out" program is in session June through August every summer. We begin taking requests for summer applications on March 1st. A limited number of applications are available.

  • Will you be at least 15 years of age by June 1st of the current year and have completed the 9th grade?
  • Are you able to volunteer the same day and time every week throughout the summer?
  • Are you able to volunteer the entire summer not missing any more than two scheduled days?
  • Are you able to attend a mandatory three hour orientation?
  • Are you able to complete the medical requirements?

Working closely with patients at Cincinnati Children's requires thorough medical screening for the safety of everyone involved. All necessary medical information will be discussed during the interview. These requirements, which will be offered at no cost to you, include but are not limited to:
    • Copy of 2 MMR vaccines OR proof of immunity to Measles, Mumps and Rubella
    • Results of 2 TB tests within the past six months
    • Proof of 2 Varicella vaccinations (if you have not previously had chickenpox)

If you were able to answer YES to the previous questions, please call the Volunteer Office at 513-636-4396 in March to begin the process.
