The Vest - Standard Protocol

Standard Protocol

The standard protocol can be used with the following vest machines: Hill-Rom Model 104 and newer, In-Courage System by Respir-Tech, and the Smart Vest.

How do I perform a treatment?

There will be four cycles of treatment. Each cycle has its own settings.

Setting the machine for the 1st cycle of treatment

  1. Make the following settings on the machine:
  2. Frequency = 11 Hz
  3. Pressure = 6
  4. Time = 6 minutes
  5. Press the ON button (or foot pedal) to begin treatment.
  6. After six minutes of treatment, pause the vest generator to deflate the vest (if the vest does not deflate disconnect one end of one of the hoses).
  7. Perform two or three sets of Huff Coughs to remove the mucus from your lungs.

Repeat Steps 2-4 for remaining cycles
