Pediatric Liver Transplant Patient Recovery
The postoperative (after surgery) recovery period after the liver transplant has several phases. At Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, after the surgery is completed, the transplant surgeons and nurse coordinator will come to the surgical waiting area and talk with your family.
While the medical team is meeting with you to update you on the surgery and answer your questions, your child will be taken to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Please give the PICU nurses and doctors about 1-1/2 hours to get your child comfortable and safe before you visit.
