What is metolazone?
Metolazone (Zaroxolyn") belongs to a class of medicines known as thiazide diuretics. It is used to treat high blood pressure or patients with kidney dysfunction. It is available as a tablet or your pharmacist may be able to make a liquid.
Special Instructions
Give this medication only as directed, and do not stop unless directed to stop by your child's doctor.
Make sure your child's doctor knows if your child has diabetes before giving this medication.
Consult the doctor or pharmacist before giving any other prescription drug or over-the-counter (OTC) drug.
Take this medicine during the day to help prevent having to get up at night to urinate.
Avoid excessive exposure to the sun. Use sunscreen.
May be taken with food if it upsets your child's stomach.
Do not use after the expiration date on the bottle/package.
Keep this medication out of the reach of children.
If too much medication is taken by accident, call the Drug and Poison Information Center (DPIC), 513-636-5111 or 1-900-222-1212, or call your child's doctor immediately.

If a Dose is Missed
For any medication information related to your child's dosing schedule and/or missed doses, contact the healthcare provider who prescribed the medication.
Side Effects
Call your child's doctor if the following effects continue or are bothersome:
Dry mouth
Increased thirst
Dizziness
Nausea or vomiting
