Many liquid furniture polishes contain substances called hydrocarbons. These substances can easily get into the lungs when swallowed, causing a pneumonia-like condition. They often have appealing odors, like lemon, which may lead a child to think they are something to drink. Rug and carpet cleaners are often solvents or caustics, both of which can be hazardous if swallowed. Keep these products away from children.
