Cleaning Products and Dish Detergents

Never pour products into unmarked containers. To use the product safely, the entire label with full instructions, ingredients and cautions, must be available. Never mix cleaning products together as toxic fumes may result.

Dishwashing soaps (those you put in the sink to hand wash your dishes) will cause some gastrointestinal upset if enough is swallowed. A splash can irritate the eye, but should readily response to an appropriate eye flush.

Dishwasher detergents are more alkaline. They can range from irritants to caustics. Oral or eye exposures should be managed by diluting (oral) or flushing (eye) along with contacting the poison control center.

TheĀ Cincinnati Drug and Poison Information Center (DPIC) provides information aboutĀ when to call your local poison control center and first aid emergency action.
