Research Awards and Appointments
The Diagnostic Immunology Laboratory, part of the Immunodeficiencies and Histiocytosis Program at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, has been awarded a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) award entitled, “Health Care and Other Facilities: Modernization of Flow Cytometry in the Diagnostic Immunology Laboratories.” It includes funding of $473,707 over one year.
Kim Cecil, PhD, was awarded the Outstanding Presentation Award in General Neuroradiology at the 2008 American Society of Neuroradiology conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Cecil, of the Division of Radiology, won the award for the paper she co-authored titled, “Lead Exposure During Childhood Disrupts Adult Brain Metabolism.”
David Schonfeld, MD, director of the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics and the National Center for School Crisis and Bereavement, was recently appointed to the National Commission on Children and Disasters and the Mental Health Subcommittee of the National Biodefense Science Board Federal Advisory Committee.
Alexander A. Vinks, PharmD, PhD, FCP, has been appointed director of the Division of Clinical Pharmacology.
James Mulloy, PhD, of the Division of Experimental Hematology and Cancer Biology, has been awarded a Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research Award entitled, “Microenvironment and Flt3 Signaling in MLL Leukemia.” It includes funding of $225,000 over three years.
