What is the Balance Center?

The Pediatric Balance Center at Cincinnati Children’s Liberty Campus focuses on children experiencing problems with balance and walking, called gait disorders. The Balance Center is also referred to as the “vestibular lab” since these disorders stem primarily from the vestibular system. The system is made up of “cues” from the inner ear sensory organs, the eyes and the feet that are integrated in the brain. If any of these cues is disrupted, kids may experience some episodes of imbalance.
The Balance Center brings together special equipment, tests and experts trained in gait disorders to assess your child’s particular needs and offer treatment for improvement. The Balance Center is only one of the many medical and surgical specialty clinics offered at our new Liberty Campus.
