Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is Named One of Health Care’s Most WiredThursday, July 28, 2011
Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center was recently named one of Health Care’s Most Wired in 2011 by Hospitals & Health Networks. The survey asked hospitals and health systems nationwide to answer questions about information technology initiatives such as computerized physician order entry (CPOE), which can help promote improved patient care and data collection. Hospitals were evaluated on their progress in adoption, implementation and use of information technology in four areas:
- Business and administrative management
- Clinical quality and safety (inpatient/outpatient hospital)
- Care continuum (ambulatory/physician/community)
Roughly 24 percent of U.S. hospitals were represented in the survey. The survey showed a trend over the last few years of hospitals progressing with technologies that are important for clinical care, business management and patient safety. The responses represent projects put into effect as of March 1, 2011.
“We’re proud to be recognized as one the 2011 Most Wired hospitals. This award validates the hard work our team does each day to help change the outcome for our patients and families,” says Marianne James, senior vice president and CIO, Information Services, Cincinnati Children’s. “Cincinnati Children’s is committed to providing technology to help improve the quality and safety of patient care. We’re honored to be recognized as one of the 2011 Most Wired hospitals for our ongoing commitment to provide outstanding patient care to children in our community and around the world,” says James.
Cincinnati Children’s is one of five Most Wired children’s hospitals nationwide and one of nine Most Wired hospitals in Ohio. The 2011 Most Wired Survey was made possible by the generous support of McKesson, HIT Exchange, AT&T, and CareTech and in cooperation with CHIME, the AHA and H&HN.
