  • Cancer Patient Inspires Pediatric Oncologist

Dr. Denise Adams, a pediatric oncologist at Cincinnati Children's, treats kids with rare vascular tumors. She wears a bracelet made by one of her patients, Regan Arnold, 16, the same age as one of Adams' own children. Regan was a high school track runner who came to Cincinnati Children's in excruciating pain. Doctors diagnosed her with something called lymphangiosarcoma, a lymphatic blood-vessel cancer that is almost unheard of in kids. The painful cancer attacked Regan's bones, and she died in 2011. Throughout her struggle, Regan kept an amazing attitude and spent her free time making bracelets to help other kids feel better.
