Surgery in Cincinnati Saves Romanian Boy's Life

When a gastroenterologist from Cincinnati Children's was visiting Romania a few years ago, he noticed a sickly, malnourished baby with Hirschsprung disease. The boy, Beni Blaj, was severely constipated. He had been misdiagnosed in Romania and received surgeries there that needed repair by a specialist. With the help of doctors from Cincinnati Children's, Beni came here to the Colorectal Center for care that saved his life. His family stayed at the Ronald McDonald House of Cincinnati while Beni received treatment. He is 4 years old now and will soon be able to go home to Romania with a much better future.
