Special Needs Resource Directory

  • Financial Assistance

Families can face overwhelming financial challenges as they support their child with special healthcare needs. Multiple financial assistance programs are available on a local, state and national level to help. Each program has its own eligibility requirements that may be tied to income, medical diagnosis or other specific requirements. We can help you identify sources of financial assistance for the care of your child with special healthcare needs.

Find information about programs that can help:

    • Medical Coverage: You may qualify for government or private resources  to help cover medical expenses.
    • Ohio Department of Job and Family Services:  This state agency can help with a wide variety of assistance including healthcare, cash assistance, and food assistance.
    • Social Security:  Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) are federal programs that provide assistance to eligible children and adults with disabilities.
    • Food and nutrition: Children with special needs may have extra nutritional requirements.
    • Utilities: Help may be available for bill payment and emergencies.
    • Wish-Granting:  These specialized organizations provide funds to meet the dreams of children who have a life-threatening diagnosis.
