In January, Governor Ted Strickland signed a bill requiring use of booster seats in Ohio. The new law requires children ages 4 to 8 or under
4 feet 9 inches tall to ride in a booster seat in motor vehicles in Ohio. Child booster seats make seat belts fit properly on children and help protect them from injury in crashes, according to the Automobile Association of America. The Trauma and Emergency Medicine Departments at Cincinnati Children’s have been working toward booster seat legislation for more than eight years.
