Your baby’s first birthday is the perfect time to schedule his first dental appointment. Think of it as a well baby check for the teeth, says pediatric dentist William Fye, DDS.
Getting your baby to the dentist by his first birthday can make a difference in his future dental health and prevent cavities, Dr. Fye says.
The first appointment is a good time for parents to learn how to clean their baby’s teeth and to talk about issues such as pacifiers, thumb sucking, tooth trauma and facial development. It’s also an opportunity to introduce your baby to the sights and sounds of the dentist’s office.
