CME Overview
The Educational Streaming Media Program at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center provides Annual Update in Pediatric Urology via streaming media. View a list of all system requirements.
Presentations are only approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ for up to one year from the presentation date. In order to obtain credit, the online post test must be completed. Upon successful completion, a certificate is available to print. Credit records are also tracked electronically by the CME office.
This CME activity is designed to meet the educational needs of physicians as well as other health care professionals. Information and opinion offered by the contributors represent their viewpoints. Conclusions drawn by the participant should be derived from careful consideration of all available scientific information. Annual Update in Pediatric Urology Educational Gap: Cincinnati Children's provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services for the entire spectrum of medical and surgical diseases affecting the urinary and genital tracts - averaging 12,500 Urologic clinic patient visits per year. New areas of controversy have risen in pediatric urology including vesicoureteral reflux. Antimicrobial prophylaxis or surgery in all children with VUR has recently been questioned. Pediatricians must remain up-to-date on common pediatric urological conditions to make decisions related to diagnosis, care, and treatment of patients with common pediatric urology conditions as well as when to refer to pediatric urology subspecialty.
Annual Update in Pediatric Urology Conference Objectives: 1. Review the current management and treatment options for vesicoureteral reflux including current controversies and late breaking research. 2. Discuss the clinical presentation and pathophysiology of scrotal pain and swelling including the indications for emergency referral. 3. Discuss presentation and management for common disorders of the external genitalia including hypospadias, undescended testes, and labial adhesions. 4. Discuss potential complications of circumcision. 5. Describe the presentation, treatment options, and prevention strategies of pediatric stone disease. 6. Outline treatment options for children with primary nocturnal enuresis. 7. Discuss issues surrounding the management of complex urologic patients with neurogenic bladder.
