The Division of Pediatric Dentistry completed participation in an NIH-sponsored project involving multiple hospitals and their dental programs. The study investigated the relationship between early childhood caries and children's body mass index and general growth. Additionally, the Division had several clinical research projects focusing primarily on patient responsiveness to procedural formats in both the clinic and operating room arenas (e.g. impact on quality of life factors of dental rehabilitation delivered in the operating room during the first 24 hours of the post-operative period). These projects will facilitate improvements in safety and care efficiency.
