About Research

New Research Building is Latest Phase for Foundation

The opening of our new 12-story, 415,000 square foot facility is a milestone that makes Cincinnati Children's one of the largest pediatric research programs in the country, as our total research space reaches nearly 1 million square feet. These facilities and more than $92 million in NIH-awarded research grants in fiscal 2007 will permit continued growth of our research program, reflecting our ongoing commitment to research that will change the outcome for children around the world.

Over the last decade, we have significantly expanded our research initiatives in basic, translational, clinical and quality improvement research. Our new building now provides facilities for continued growth, as the interior space was specifically designed to promote opportunities for collaboration across disciplines and productive interactions among clinical and translational investigators. Among the many areas of research emphasis are:

  • Stem cell biology for cancer and diabetes
  • Developmental biology and organogenesis
  • Genomics, proteomics and gene therapy
  • Eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders
  • Pharmacogenetics of asthma and epilepsy

In addition to the academic Divisions that will be housed in the new building, the research infrastructure at Cincinnati Children's provides investigators with core resources to support cutting-edge laboratory and translational research by enhancing access to advanced technology and data analysis for a wide variety of projects.
