Forced Swim Test

Forced Swim Test (FST): The FST is a well known test for inducing stress to assess stress responses including HPA axis markers such as ACTH, corticosterone and others, and as a test of depression (the Persolt test of swimming despair).  The Persolt tests for swimming immobility after a training session in which the animal is confined to an inescapable test chamber.  The test can be scored manually or by video tracking software
