Locomotor Activity with Pharmacological Challenge

Locomotor activity with pharmacological challenge using specific neurotransmitter and/or receptor agonists and antagonists: We typically test animals using indirect dopaminergic agonists, specific dopamine D1 and D2 agonists and antagonists, cholinergic-muscarinic antagonists, glutamatergic-NMDA receptor antagonists and have experience with a variety of other agents. We can also customize to a PI's specific interests. In a typical procedure, animals are tested first for 60 min to habituate the animals to the novel environment. On a subsequent day they are retested for 30 min to reestablish baseline, then removed briefly, injected with the drug challenge, and returned to the test chamber for 2 h to assess their response profile over time.
