Pediatric Herpes Simplex Infection Medication 2008
Cincinnati Children’s Top Recruiter of 15 Sites
This research study was conducted to determine the safest dose of a medication in children with herpes simplex virus infections. The study also determined how well children accept the taste of the medication.
Population: 1 to 12 years olds with active, latent or suspected HSV
Sites: This was a two part study - 12 US sites participated in Part A and 11 US / 4 Central America sites participated in Part B
Enrollment Time: March 2006 to December 2007
Recruitment Results: Cincinnati Children’s experienced recruitment success in both parts of the study. For part A, the combined goal for all sites was 30 participants. Cincinnati Children’s exceeded its goal of 3 participants and recruited 4, placing third in the 12 sites conducting the study. For Part B, the combined goal for all sites was 62 participants. Cincinnati Children’s exceeded its goal a second time, a goal of 6 participants, and finished recruiting 13 participants into the study. This accomplishment made our site the top recruiter of 15 sites in Part B.
