John Besl, Project Analyst / Demography
John Besl joined the CPRC staff in 2003, returning to his hometown of Cincinnati. He came to CPRC from Indiana University, where he served as the state's demographer, producing detailed population projections and representing Indiana in several programs with the U.S. Census Bureau. Earlier in his career, he held positions in demographic research with Nielsen Media Research and the State of Wisconsin. He tracks local and national population trends, using his in–depth knowledge of census data products and other sources of secondary data. In addition, John has valuable experience with statistical software, extracting information from large data sets such as state and national birth certificate files.
