John Besl, Project Analyst
John Besl develops SAS code to retrieve data from state / federal vital statistics files and client databases. He presents this information in clear, user-friendly graphs, tables, and maps.
John also produces maps depicting spatial patterns of economic, demographic, and health characteristics, using ArcView GIS desktop mapping software. He uses knowledge of secondary data sources (e.g., U.S. Census) to describe and analyze local population and health trends, especially those impacting children. John has written chapters for 2004 and 2005 Hamilton County Maternal and Child Health Assessment reports, providing detailed information on birth outcomes and local population profiles.
