Bio

Thomas R. Kimball, MD, is currently the director of Echocardiography and the director of the Cardiovascular Imaging Core Research Laboratory at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.

A native of California, Dr. Kimball graduated with Distinction and Honors from Stanford University. He earned his medical degree from New York University, New York, NY.

Dr. Kimball completed his pediatric internship and residency at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles and his pediatric cardiology fellowship at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.

Dr. Kimball has been an attending staff member of the Division of Cardiology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine since 1988. He became director of Echocardiography in 1998.

Dr. Kimball's academic interests relate to echocardiography and he has made numerous scholarly contributions in the field of ventricular function utilizing echocardiography, particularly in the field of hypertension and obesity.

Dr. Kimball has established collaborative relationships with basic scientists at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine using echocardiography to evaluate phenotypes of transgenic mice, including embryonic mice.

Dr. Kimball has been active in the cardiology community. He is a member of the American Society of Echocardiography, American Heart Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Cardiology and an investigator in the NIH Pediatric Heart Network.

Dr. Kimball was also a member of the first Family Advisory Council at Cincinnati Children's and received the 2006 Family Advisory Council Award of Excellence.
