Educational Opportunities

Bioinformatics Graduate Program

Available through the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati, the Bioinformatics Graduate Program enables students to interact closely with the faculty in the Division of Biomedical Informatics at Cincinnati Children's Research Foundation. Through course work and collaboration with our faculty, students are expected to develop expertise in the following areas:

  • mathematics
  • statistics
  • computational science
  • basic biology
  • molecular biology
  • biomedicine

Graduates of the program will understand the theory and practice of developing and applying biocomputational models and tools in biomedical research, in addition to the theory and practice of biomedical research itself. With this knowledge, they will be able to conduct methodological research in computational biology and to conduct biomedical research itself using computational methods as their primary tools.

To assist students in meeting their goals, the curriculum of the Bioinformatics Graduate Program combines core requirements with specially tailored interdisciplinary courses in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computational biology and functional genomics. These courses help students to develop tools and expertise for the integration and analysis of data and knowledge across a range of disciplines.
