Cincinnati Comparative Mouse Genomics Centers Consortium

The Cincinnati Comparative Mouse Genomics Centers Consortium is a collaborative initiative with the University of Cincinnati to develop transgenic and knockout mouse models based on human DNA sequence variants in environmentally responsive genes.
The CMGCC's goal is to determine a model for a series of prevalent polymorphisms by placing normal and altered version of genes into mice and experimentally analyzing the function of the pathways and the susceptibility of the mice to DNA damaging agents. By determining these pathways and susceptibilities, the group hopes to decrease cancer susceptibility in humans, particularly in environments where exposure to a high level of DNA-damaging agents may occur.
At Cincinnati Children's, the Aronow /Jegga research lab in the Division of Biomedical Informatics is currently using TraFaC, PathMaker, GeNet and other tools to provide bioinformatic support for the CMGCC.
