Overview
The Division of Biomedical Informatics at Cincinnati Children's Research Foundation is home to the following faculty labs:
- Directed by: Bruce Aronow, PhD, and Anil Jegga, DVM
- Focus: Computational identification of cis-regulatory regions and functionally significant non-synonymous single nucleotide polymorphisms (nsSNPs); computational approaches to biological system mapping/modeling
- Directed by: Jason Lu, PhD
- Focus: Developing computational tools to unravel the molecular mechanism of human diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases
- Directed by: Mario Medvedovic, PhD
- Focus: Developing Bayesian hierarchical models for unsupervised and semi-supervised learning from diverse data types; developing protocols for comprehensive data management and the statistical analysis of microarray data
- Directed by: Jarek Meller, PhD
- Focus: Protein structure and function prediction; recognition of functional sites in proteins; gene (genome) annotation; identification of predictive fingerprints of disease states, especially in the context of large SNP genotyping
- Directed by: John Pestian, PhD
- Focus: Developing and implementing neuro-cognitive algorithms that enable computers to understand the concepts and semantic relationships within clinical text
- Directed by: Michael Wagner, PhD
- Focus: Applications of machine learning techniques to bioinformatics problems such as protein structure prediction, disease classification and protein identification
