Staff Experience
The Pediatric Pharmacology Research Unit staff at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is skilled in the effective use of drugs in children.
The Principal Investigator, Alexander A. Vinks, PharmD, PhD, is also the Director of the Laboratory of Applied Pharmacokinetics and Therapeutic Drug Management (LAP-TDM). Dr. Vinks is an experienced clinical pharmacologist with a long time interest and expertise in pharmacokinetics, population pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic (PK-PD) modeling, and pharmacogenetics of a variety of drug classes including immunosuppressant drugs, protease inhibitors and antibiotics. Dr. Vinks directs and oversees the operations and quality assurance programs for the laboratory.
Laboratory Manager Shareen Cox, BS, is an experienced laboratory technician, with extensive expertise in assay development, analytical procedures and therapeutic drug management. She is in charge of the day-to-day operation of the laboratory and also assures the efficient function and quality control of technical determinations in the LAP-TDM.
Nurse Coordinator Denise Maseck, RN, BSN, is a registered nurse with extensive experience in conducting pediatric clinical trials. She is involved in planning and direct execution of research patient care and procedures. She schedules PPRU activities and patients, organizes and directs nursing activities for all PPRU protocols, and facilitates coordination and efficient utilization of the Cincinnati Center for Clinical Research (CCCR) and General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) resources at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
Research Pharmacist Denise Lagory, RPh, will store, prepare, and dispense investigational drugs as part of PPRU network activities. She has the necessary qualifications and experience for this role and is currently engaging in these activities for the Cincinnati Center for Clinical Research and clinical investigators.
Business Director Melinda Muenich, RN, MBA, has extensive health care marketing and management experience. She is responsible for efficient and effective business practices with in the PPRU. Melinda assists Dr. Vinks in the strategic planning and business development of the PPRU.
