Nakafuku Lab

Overview

Research in the Nakafuku Laboratory centers on development and regeneration of the central nervous system (CNS).

We are seeking to understand the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying normal development of the CNS and advancing our knowledge of neural development to devise new therapeutic strategies to cure neurological diseases. These two research fields are directly related to each other, and neural stem cells are the key with which to link them in our research activities.

Our laboratory belongs to the Molecular and Developmental Biology Graduate Program, Neuroscience Graduate Program, and the MD, PhD Program in The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. We offer pre- and post-doctoral trainings through these programs.

We also have programs for the training of basic neuroscience researchers (both fellows and residents) in clinical departments. Inquiries from interested trainees are always welcome.
