Please be advised:  Before the core can accept to perfom animal handling and treatment for research purposes, we have to ensure that the technician from the core handling the animals is on the animal protocol of the individual principal investigator requesting these services.  This is a 5 minute procedure, and we are more than willing to provide all the necessary information.  Please just add your protocol number(s) on the two personnel sheets in the link box and submit to Veterinary Services.

Cost

Mouse strains and services are charged as indicated on the service request form.  Please be advised that we have to charge additional fees for services provided outside regular working hours ( 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday), excluding CCHMC holidays.  If you have to cancel an experiment, please allow a 24 hour advanced notice. to avoid being charged for services requested.

Irradiation

Due to homeland security concerns, Cincinnati Childrens Hospital Medical Centerl limits the access of individual investigators to the irradiator and places the responsibility of irradiating cells as well as animals exclusively with this Core.

The Core will work closely together with individual investigators to meet their "irradiation needs".  We prefer to irradiate animals and cells preferably twice a day, either form 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. or from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., although we will try to accommodate any schedule that is necessary for a specific experiment.  Please review  the Irradiation/Transplantation Guidelines.
