The Pediatric Oncology Program (POP), an affiliation between Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center (OSUCCC), and Columbus Children's Hospital, will stimulate novel research in cancer that will benefit pediatric and adult patients nationwide.  The POP has made several unique and valuable core services available to researchers at these institutions.  Investigators at either facility can download the appropriate specimen transport guide for inter-institutional specimen transport logisitics:

The Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center Division of Experimental Hematology, under the direction of David A. Williams, MD, is committed to the support of investigators within the division, Cincinnati Children's Research Foundation, and throughout the scientific community. The division has recognized the common need for defined services which may not be readily available within some programs because of cost, logistics, and / or technology. Some of these services require unique techniques and skills that are impractical to be developed by individual investigator laboratories. The Experimental Hematology research cores have been developed to provide these services at a very high standard with a modest charge-back. Additional information about the individual cores, including service request forms, is available through the links provided.

The National Cancer Institute has designated The Ohio State University a comprehensive cancer center, meaning its research programs in cancer control, detection, diagnosis and treatment are broad and robust enough to merit inclusion on a list of only 39 such institutions around the country. The new affiliation will enable OSUCCC to gain from Cincinnati Children's established expertise in gene therapy and novel cell treatments in pediatric cancers. At the same time, Cincinnati Children's will gain access to novel adult cancer treatments at OSUCCC that may be appropriate for children and young adults.  The affiliation agreement gives Cincinnati Children's faculty who are members of the Pediatric Oncology Program access to a number of strong research cores available through the OSUCCC.  Additional information about the individual cores, including service request forms, is available through the links provided below.
