Cancer Pathology Program

The Cancer Pathology Program is a joint effort of the Division of Experimental Hematology and Cancer Biology and the Division of Pathology.

Researchers in this group focuses upon the molecular cause of cancer with emphasis on basic research to understand patient outcomes, and to transform medicine through bench-to-bedside translation. Specifically, research efforts within the program model human cancers, molecularly dissect causative agents, and explore clinical resistance against current therapy. Our work exploits genetic, genomic, epigenomic, transcriptomic and proteomic approaches to understand the key regulatory networks underlying the survival, proliferation, differentiation, engraftment, and movement of hematopoietic stem cells or cancer stem cells. The end goal is to improve current therapies and develop novel therapeutics against the deregulated signaling networks that initiate tumor formation and progression and support tumor maintenance.
