June 1-2, 2008, Harvard Club of Boston, Boston, MA
The co-organizers and the Cincinnati Children's Research Foundation's Division of Experimental Hematology and Cancer Biology invite you to participate in the Fourth Stem Cell Clonality and Genotoxicity Retreat.
Dear Colleagues,
New challenges and opportunities have been introduced into the field of stem cell gene therapy due to progress that has uncovered both unprecedented success and serious side effects. Improved understanding of the genotoxicity of stem cell manipulation and vector insertion provides the opportunity to increase both our understanding of stem cell physiology and the safety of gene transfer manipulations.
Over the past five years, we have organized the Stem Cell Clonality and Genotoxicity Retreats in conjunction with the American Society of Hematology and American Society of Gene Therapy Annual meetings, alternating between the two in 18 month intervals. These retreats consisted of more than 25 speakers and over 200 participants. (See 2006 Molecular Therapy Meeting Report published in Molecular Therapy) Because of the positive feedback received and, more importantly, as the developments continue to change the way the field looks at and overcomes these issues, we are pleased to host the Fourth Stem Cell Clonality and Genotoxicity Retreat. This year's retreat is being held immediately following the American Society of Gene Therapy meeting in Boston, MA on June 1-2, 2008 at the Harvard Club of Boston. The meeting will take place from 12-5:30 p.m. on June 1 and from 7-4 p.m. on June 2, 2008. The retreat will follow a unique format and will be directed at updating the progress made in understanding normal and abnormal stem cell biology as revealed in part by vector insertional analysis. There will also be sessions on improved vector designs and new vector systems. The substantial and exciting progress the field has made in understanding the mechanisms underlying the evolution of gene-modified cells in vivo, both in animal and in clinical trials will be reviewed.
Please see the links below which will provide you with a preliminary program as well as registration/lodging information. We have been fortunate to confirm the attendance and contributions of 31 of the world's leaders in this field to this intimate exchange of ideas about the current progress and challenges in the field of gene therapy.
We have decided to keep registration costs at a minimum to encourage attendance by trainees. Please be sure to register early as space will be limited. The registration fee prior to April 31, 2008 is $100 and all late registration fees are $125.
