Denson Lab

Meet the Lab

Erin Bonkowski received her BA in Biology from Capital University in 1999. She is a Research Assistant IV in Dr. Denson's laboratory. Her current work includes measuring various IBD-related cytokines, hormones, and binding protein levels from biological samples collected from Dr. Denson's human studies.

Dr. Xiaonan Han is currently working on the therapeutic effect of growth hormone on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and also focusing on the role of Transducer and Activator of Transcription-3 and 5 in IBD.  He received his Ph.D. from the Department of Pathology, Peking Union Medical College in China. Dr. Han finished his post-doctoral training in the Department of Critical Care Medicine,  University of Pittsburgh Medical School in 2003.

Dr. Ingrid Jurickova received her medical degree from Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. Currently, she is studying regulatory T lymphocytes from healthy donors and IBD patients, focusing on cytoplasmic signal transducers and intracellular cytokines.

Tara Willson is a graduate student at the University of Cincinnati in the Cell and Cancer Biology program. Her research centers on the role of STAT3 in regulating the immune system and intestinal epithelial homeostasis in inflammatory bowel disease. She obtained her Bachelors from the University of Kentucky with dual degrees in Biology and Agricultural Biotechnology.

Dr. Chip Samson is a clinical fellow in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Washington. His research focuses on the influence of CARD15 and GM-CSF on monocyte function in inflammatory bowel disease.

Dr. Brad Pasternak is a clinical fellow in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition. He obtained his medical degree from Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv, Israel. His research focuses on the role of bacterial product/TLR4 interaction in the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease.
