Open Access Testimonial
The Center for Health Care Quality at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center provides a physician testimonial on open access:
- Regarding open access, one of my patients was amazed that we had an empty waiting room and he did not have to wait to see me. He wondered whether we were going out of business. I told him, "we all have booked schedules today and everyone is showing up, but we are just more efficient now."
My shedule started out Monday with eight openings and they were all filled by lunchtime. We do not create these openings, they just happen by working down the backlog. That is the beauty of open access -- any of my patients that called today could be seen by me.
I would almost go as far as making it mandatory that our clinics participate in the collaborative. The transition is not that painful and the benefits are worth it.
