These programs are all multidisciplinary and include closely integrated efforts with medical and surgical subspecialties at Cincinnati Children's, the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and the radiation oncology program at the Barrett Cancer Center.
Clinical care is further supported by the divisional psychosocial program, school intervention program and child life services. The division plays an integral role in the medical management of Cincinnati Children's Starshine Hospice.
Specialty clinical laboratory cores in flow cytometry and immunophenotyping, immune and white blood cell function, coagulation, hemoglobin analysis, bone marrow morphology and cytogenetics provide diagnostic support. Outreach clinics are held at Cincinnati Children's Outpatient Services - Mason, Dayton Children's Hospital and Akron Children's Hospital. We participate with the Children's Cancer Group and other national and international co-operative groups, as well as pharmaceutical companies, in the development of new treatments for children and young adults with cancer and serious blood disorders.
