Meet the Wells Lab

Trisha Wise-Draper

Trisha Wise-Draper
Trisha Wise-Draper is an MD/PhD student in the laboratory who has completed her first two years in Medical School at the University of Cincinnati. She has been in the laboratory as a research assistant for three years and she will begin her Ph.D. thesis work in June, 2005. Her project will be centered on mechanisms of senescence and apoptosis inhibition by the human DEK proto-oncogene, with relevance to a number of particularly aggressive human cancers.

Kristy Schmidlin

Kristy Schmidlin
Kristy Schmidlin is a junior biology major and chemistry and spanish minor at Xavier University. She is responsible for laboratory upkeep and maintenance and looking forward to working full time for her senior research project this summer.

Beth Jones

Beth Jones
Beth Jones obtained a bachelors degree in 2001 from the University of Indianapolis in Biology and a masters degree in 2004 from Miami University, Oxford, OH in the area of Neuroscience. She is a Research Assistant IV and manager for the laboratory. Her current interests involve molecular changes in cellular trafficking associated with HPV-induced immortalization and E2-induced senescence. Beth's experiments are based on her hypothesis that deregulated membrane and protein trafficking may be a contributing factor in human carcinogenesis.

Kristen Habash

Kristen Habash
Kristen Habash graduated in May 2004 from Xavier University with a BS in Biology, where she performed undergraduate research on the effects of cytokines on bovine coronary arteries. Her current research in the laboratory involves the regulation of the DEK proto-oncogene by the retinoblastoma prototein family in mouse embryo fibroblasts. She is also actively pursuing her interest in DNA repair pathways as a function of age and HPV immortalized compared to primary mouse and human cells.
