Bio
Laura Patricia Stadler, MEd, MD, MS, is an infectious disease specialist, medical educator and clinical researcher. She obtained her undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1992. Dr. Stadler completed a Masters in Education at the University of Kentucky in 1996 prior to medical school at the University of Louisville. She then trained in Pediatrics at the University of South Florida where she was a member of the rural track. During residency, she served as District X Coordinator of the Resident Section of the AAP and was involved with CATCH and advocacy projects.
During her infectious diseases fellowship training at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, Dr. Stadler studied the epidemiology of cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections in adolescents through Cincinnati Children's Clinical Research Program. A preliminary analysis of CMV infections in adolescent females served as a thesis in partial fulfillment of a MS in Clinical Research / Epidemiology through the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She received NIH Loan Repayment funding for her clinical research in this area.
Dr. Stadler was awarded a T32 Molecular Epidemiology Child Environmental Health (MECEH) training grant for 2005-2007 and also completed a fellowship in molecular epidemiology. She aims to further study the epidemiology of CMV infections in preparation for the leading vaccine candidate.
Dr. Stadler has an interest in infections in immunocompromised hosts and has a secondary appointment within the Division of Hematology / Oncology. As one of Cincinnati Children's Deans Scholars, she looks forward to establishing a new research focus within this area.
