Nephrology and Hypertension

Education

The Division of Nephrology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center hosts one of the best pediatric nephrology training programs in the country. The division's laboratories train graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and physician scientists.

Since the division hosts one of the few National Institutes of Health-funded nephrology training programs in the country that is based at a pediatric hospital, the division continues to attract qualified pediatricians and are training pediatric nephrologists for the next century.

The division's fellowship program offers many advantages to potential fellows, including:

  • A thorough curriculum that combines busy clinical service with opportunities for research and specialization
  • Clinical facilities with a history of cutting-edge clinical treatment and research, including continuous pediatric renal transplants since 1965
  • World-class research facilities
  • A combination of a large clinical and basic science faculty

The division has been focused on the biology of complement and inflammation for years, and will continue with this focus. The program has recently been deepened by addition of new faculty and broadened by the establishment of collaborative arrangements with several laboratories in related areas.
