Otolaryngology Research

The Division of Pediatric Otolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery at Cincinnati Children’s is dedicated to improving the lives of infants, children and young adults by combining the latest in state-of-the-art technology and facilities with unsurpassed knowledge of otolaryngology care. This synergistic combination results in the best possible care for our patients and leverages this division as a national and international referral center for complex otolaryngologic conditions.

One of the goals of the research program is to provide residents and fellows with exposure to scientific methodologies and to provide them with an opportunity to apply these methodologies to specific scientific or clinical questions of interest. The division’s research committee works with each trainee before their arrival to identify and plan for their research time while here in the division. The division provides the resources the trainees need – whether it is financial support, space and equipment or intellectual mentorship – to accomplish their research objectives. The division also encourages and supports the trainees with their applications for extramural research funding. The trainees gain valuable grant application experience, which they can take with them when they  pursue their own academic careers.

In addition to training residents and fellows, the division has a robust training program for medical students and local college students. This not only advances our research program, but goes a long way to spark the interest of these students to pursue careers in medicine and research.
