Medical Education
A second mission of the department is medical education. Our clinical material and activities provide an academic environment for the education and training of pathology residents and fellows, as well as trainees in most of the clinical subspecialties.
The department supports a pediatric pathology fellowship training experience that can lead to full board subspecialty certification in Pediatric Pathology. In addition to the clinically related educational opportunities, the department also provides many students and faculty members with laboratory facilities and training expertise in the many aspects of morphological-based research tools used by investigators throughout the institution.
Similar education and training is also supported by the department throughout the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine through a special training workshop, and at the national level through active participation in Society for Pediatric Pathology-sponsored symposia on molecular diagnostics.
