Projects in the Mitchell Lab
Members of the Mitchell Lab.
Our lab is dedicated to understanding and improving health outcomes for underserved youth, particularly African-Americans.
Currently the Mitchell lab is involved in research in two major areas:
- Sickle Cell Disease: a series of studies examining psychosocial factors, nutrition, health and coping in children with sickle cell disease.
- INNOVATIONS: a community-based program evaluation and consultation service which focuses on culturally-relevant program evaluation and training students in community-based research.
In addition, members of the Mitchell lab participate in a number of lab activities and events.
- Lab Activities: research assistants from the Mitchell Lab volunteer at a number of educational and social programs for families affected by Sickle Cell Disease.
- Events: the Mitchell lab participates in a number of Sickle Cell Disease-related activities and events.
